GCash problems? Use 7ELEVEN CLiQQ App

If, like me, you’ve got used to the convenience of paying your bills online via the GCash App then you will know how convenient it is. No more travelling about/queuing – perfect!

One of the oddities of my online banking with BDO is that Angeles City Electric Company (AEC) is not one of the companies I can pay via BDO, which has always been very frustrating. However, it’s a breeze to pay Angeles City Electric via the GCash App. That is until last week, when it disappeared as a payment option from GCash, together with Converge I.T.

In my subdivision I usually get my Angeles City Electric bill near the end of the month, with a payment due date ‘window’ of about 4 days – after which you cannot use online Apps to pay the bill, you have to physically visit one of their payment offices – yikes! That’s definitely worth avoiding if at all possible.

Although paying my AEC and Converge I.T Bills was temporarily not available via GCash (now back online btw) the following was a great stop-gap option that only required me to pay by visiting my nearest 7Eleven store.

Many of you will be aware that most 7Eleven stores have CLiQQ payment machines (they look a bit like ATM machines) inside. However, these can be busy and/or offline from time to time – so avoid them by using the CLiQQ App on your smartphone instead.

7Eleven CLiQQ App

Although there are many features of the 7Eleven CLiQQ App, quite simply it is a great alternative for times when GCash lets you down paying bills.

You can download the App from the Play Store or Apple Store. Once installed you can select PAY BILLS, SELECT who you wish to pay, input the AMOUNT and your ACCOUNT REFERENCE and bingo! The App will generate a Barcode. [click on logo to go to official website]

All you then have to do is visit any 7Eleven Store (yes, any!) get your Barcode scanned at the till and pay your Bill. Easy. No waiting around and no worries their in-store CLiQQ machine is offline or has a queue. There’s also a very good chance you live closer to a 7Eleven than an official utilities payment office!

The CLiQQ App levies a very modest ₱10 fee for this, which is just as cheap as GCash.

Of course I will continue to use GCash as it is by far the most convenient way to pay bills, with everything being 100% online (no travel required) and/or Online Banking whenever possible. But the 7Eleven CLiQQ App is an excellent alternative when you cannot pay a Bill via GCash for whatever temporary or more permanent reason.
